Friday Fragments

Since I have so many random tidbits, I thought I'd participate in Friday Fragments & Friday's Freewrite!

So I always look forward to Wednesday's because I know that's the day Mama Kat posts her Writer's Workshop prompts for the week. Wednesday morning I was driving to work and decided to check Google Reader on my Blackberry to see if the prompts were up yet. Because every good driver reads blogs while driving. Sure enough, they were there! I read over them trying to decide which prompt I would choose this week. Made a note to self to check out the inspiration behind her prompts when I got to work. Fast forward a few hours. I hop on to Mama Kat's site, and start clicking on the blogs for the people who inspired, and suddenly when I got to number 3, my blog popped up. "Stupid computer," I thought, as I hit the back button and clicked the link again. "Oh wait - it says Sarah M. -- that's me -- could it be?!" And sure enough my friends, it was! I squealed. Out loud. And I'm not lying. I love being famous. Had I known it was going to be such a big day, I would have worn my Hollywood BumpIt to be prepared when the press showed up. But I think I still looked pretty great for my close-up considering I didn't have time to head over to hair & make-up for a quick touch-up. Thanks, Mama Kat! You're my {blogging} hero!

And if that didn't make me feel the love enough, my Sip & See was featured over at Everyday Celebrating! That blog is amazing for party ideas & decorating inspiration...be sure to check it out. And my sweet friend Katie even recognizes commented that I'm famous. What a week!

As you can see, I'm really getting into this whole blog thing. It's so fun! And I've met so many neat people. Most of the blogs I read are decorating/party ideas or adoption blogs. Recently I found another adoption blog that was great, Life and Adoption, so I started following it. Kellie and her husband are pretty close to being in the same stage of the process as we are, so it's always fun to have someone to talk to that's going through the same stuff you are. Well, the more we started talking, we realized we live only 40 minutes apart...isn't that crazy?!? So we're getting together next week...how fun is that?! I heart bloggyland. Anyway, their adoption profile is getting ready to "go live" next week, so be sure to keep them in your prayers! I'm so excited for them and just know they will be selected super fast! And go check out her blog, too...it's great! :)

I'm not gonna lie; I love me some comments. If you comment me, I love to come visit your blog (if you have one) and/or email back and say thanks for boosting my self-esteem, blah, blah, blah. However, many of you do not have an email address associated with your blogger account, so if I don't email you back...that's why! So thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to comment me. :)

And I'd like to wish Kim at The TomKat Studio a very Happy Birthday! I know you've heard me gush about her site many times, but if you haven't yet, you seriously need to check out her work! Not only is she creative, but she's so sweet that she's even hosting 3 giveaways in honor of her birthday! Go enter. Only rule is, if you win - you have to give your prize to me. I kid, I kid. But seriously, you can just ship it to my home address.

I just found Step-Fabulous through Katie's blog...they are both great and you should check them out! She tagged me with Lists, Lists, Lists, so here goes!

8 Things I am looking forward to:
1. Seeing my hubby this weekend! He's been working a TON lately.
2. Hanging out with my parents this weekend while they're in town to help us do some house & yardwork! :)
3. Getting the crib put together & putting the bedding in it.
4. A birthmom picking us...I will probably faint when that happens. I have ordered Patrick to have smelling salts on hand.
5. Going to Six Flags with my nieces & nephews and staying with my sister & her kiddos while there! (Yes Rach, we're planning it soon...get ready!!)
6. Moving into my new office when the re-model in our building finishes. It really cuts into my blogging working when the power keeps going off every other hour. So rude.
7. The day my neck & head stop hurting (see #5 in the next section).
8. Getting together with Kellie next week! :)

8 Things I did yesterday
1. Got up early Thought about getting up early for an intense workout.
2. Had a consulting appointment with a client who has a pet crematory. I'm learning something new everyday, people.
3. Left my energy drink on the top of my car when I left work and screamed when something red started pouring down my windshield.
4. Went to the water park with my sister, niece and nephews.
5. Nearly gave myself a concussion at said water park when I rode the "toilet bowl". Let's just say it was so bad, that even the lifeguard said, "Whoa!" when she heard my head crack.
6. Finished the wall in the nursery...aren't you excited for the big reveal?!
7. Made scrumptious Rice Krispy Treats. No burnt pans or anything.
8. I can't remember...did I mention I bumped my head?

8 Things I Wish I Could DO
1. Take a nap.
2. Travel more. Europe, Tahiti, I'll take the works, please.
3. Sew. I vow to know how by this time next year. And by "know how", I mean I will be able to at least sew the button back off my shirt if it falls off.
4. Clean my house. I'm talking like actually dust and stuff. Ugh.
5. Watch an episode of "The Office" being filmed.
6. Have a baby.
7. Make adoption cheaper.
8. Cut a straight line.

8 Shows I watch: (haven't watched TV lately at all really, but here's what you'd find on my DVR)
1. King of Queens
2. The Bachelorette (embarrassed to actually admit it)
3. The Office
4. Ellen
5. American Idol (I know it's over, but I think I have a few of the last ones on there.)
6. One Tree Hill
7. Law & Order: SVU (don't know why b/c it gives me nightmares...but my hubby and I like to watch together.)
8. Lots of Random TLC shows.

1. Kellie
2. M.
3. Rebekah
4. Jodi
5. Wondraful Baby

  4. Aaaaaaah! I would LOVE to see an episode of the Office being filmed. Or just meet one of the stars. Or anything! I can't wait for next season to start!

And I am a huge fan of comments!!!! I hate it when I write something that I *think* is funny, and I get 0 comments. =(
It makes my day when I get a new follower. =)

A friend that I have been praying for got a precious baby boy on Monday night. They just finished their life book and the birthmom picked them, all in a very short time. I will be praying for your future baby and the birthmom who wants to choose you!!

    Have a great weekend!

  5. Seriously, how awesome are you for inspiring a prompt for Writer's Workshop!? If I were a birthmom I might pick you for that bit of awesomeness alone.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Thanks for the tag! My life is so boring right now...I don't have 8 things I did yesterday, or even 8 things I did today! LOL. But I'm looking forward to meeting you too, that's for sure!

  8. Yes, blogging is wonderful-I love meeting so many people (like you! :) I'm really looking forward to going to BlogHer this month (my first after two years of blogging.) It's going to be so much fun meeting up with people I've only known through the computer screen all this time.

I'd like to suggest another dear bloggy friend of mine who is also in the adoption boat--Her name is Yaya, and she's a hoot. I don't think she did FF today, but you could look her up through last weeks' FF. Good luck with your adoption process!

  11. So glad I read your blog or i wouldn't know you were coming down soon!:) I love your 8 things...I'm with everyone else, I think I will join you in watching the Office filmed. Except I want to be IN an episode, think we could make that happen? Now that you are famous I thought you could have that arranged for me. I'm just sayin'. Maybe they could use Ellie as inspiration and have Michael peep under a bathroom stall and say "hey, whatcha doin in there?" I can so see it...

  14. Wow you are having a good week! ;)

There are a few organizations that give grants for adoption. As far as I know they are all closed for grant giving at this exact moment, but should be opened for more grants within the year. One of them is Parenthood For Me:
    www.parenthoodforme.org

Her name is Erica and her blog is
    www.parenthoodforme.blogspot.com

    LOL at blogging while driving!

  15. That is so neat about meeting another blogger who is also adopting. Blogging is so great at connecting. We will be adopting too, but not anytime soon. First of all, we don't have near enough money to yet. Secondly, we aren't ready for kids just yet.

I love comments too. I think we all do. It's funny, because we all get into blogging with no readership, followers, comments. The moment we get a taste for it all, though, we want it. :o)

  16. You are absolutely hilarious and I am so glad you are my sister-in-law (and probably the only one I will ever have!). I laughed and laughed. The only bad thing about reading your site is not having access to anything here to carry out your ideas! Keep them coming!

  17. I thought you were going to go in a different direction when you started off with checking Google Reader on your Blackberry while you were driving...I was actually relieved to know you didn't crash! LOL! ;)

I love Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop - I keep meaning to participate but then things come up and I don't...I'll have to make time for it, won't I? ;)

Amen to the comments thing...and no email address attached. :)

Good luck with the adoption - you must be SO excited!!! I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers! :)

Happy FF a day late! :)
