I'm baaaack!

I've not been a great blogger lately....oops. Last week was CUH-RAZY!!
First of all, thanks for all the great feedback on the nursery! I'm really liking it and am so glad to have it done.

Last Wednesday I made a spur of the moment decision to go to Oklahoma City to surprise my sister Jenny. She was being announced as a Top 12 Finalist for Oklahoma Teacher of the Year the next morning!! Here I am with her, her son Hayden, and my mom.

We are SOOO proud of you, Jen!! :)

After her ceremony & press conference (yes, my sister is a big deal!), we went out to eat then headed to Tulsa and did some shopping. They live up that way, but the reason I went to Tulsa is because we had a support group meeting for our adoption agency that night, so Patrick just met me there.

Let me just say...it was amazing!! I really didn't know what to expect as this was our first "in person" interaction with anyone from our agency. But I loved it. Most of the couples there already had their babies, so it was so neat to hear their stories and how things are going for them. Everyone was so honest with their feelings and emotions that it was so reassuring. Sometimes I wonder if I'm the only one who worries about certain things, so it was great to hear that I'm not alone in many of my concerns. The great thing is that everyone was so encouraging! After problems/fears were shared, others would give advice or encouragement on how to best deal with it. It just reaffirmed what I already knew: we are blessed to have such a great, supportive agency! I have no doubt that the Lord definitely guided us to it as it perfectly meets our needs/desires.

I am so excited and inspired to get to work on our Life Book now. :) I am setting a goal to order it by August 3rd - Patrick's birthday - which is 2 weeks from today! Plus they have free shipping on them until then, so perfect timing, huh? :) Will you guys please keep me accountable though? If I haven't posted a few pages from it by later this week, call me out on it so I'll stop being such a procrastinator!

So Friday is our final Home Study and we have been working working working to get the house in order! This is actually good because it's motivated me to get completely moved in, never mind the fact that we moved in 9 months ago. Yikes. Slacker much? Oh well, we're making progress now, mostly thanks to all my mom & dad have done to help us out! We're pretty much ready other than dusting, mopping, etc. Oh, which just reminded me (don't ask why b/c it's not really related) I haven't purchased outlet covers for our home study yet. Our case worker said we didn't have to have them in all the outlets yet; just have them there at the house to show we're ready to go. Anyone know the best place to buy them?

  1. Welcome back!! Congrats to your sister!! I live not to far from Tulsa!!

  2. You can get them at Target or Babies R Us.

  3. Sounds like fun!! So cool that you are moving forward. We bought our covers at BRU.

  4. Congrats to your sis! That is awesome! Glad to hear everything is moving along smoothly.

  5. Wal-Mart or Target... where else can you find everything you want!!

  6. Hi Sarah! I'm glad you stopped by our blog! I work at AOG, the gas company.

I have a friend that used an adoption agency in Tulsa and I bet it's the same one - I remember when she was working on her Life Book. It was amazing and once she went through all of the steps, she got her little girl pretty quickly. Her little girl turned 3 this month. I hope you get your book done by your deadline so you will be even closer to getting your baby!

  7. I will hold you accountable because you know how fast it happened for us! You could have a baby very soon once you get that book in! Your nursery is so cute! I got my outlet covers at Walmart, but she isn't going to inspect your house that closely. Our social worker from the agency barely looked in the rooms.

  8. Buy them online at Ebay, I got 50 for 8$ and shipping was like 5$ more.. :)

  9. Good luck on the hone study! I'm sure it'll go smoothly.

Target or Wal-mart has the outlet covers as well as Home Depot (surprsingly!)

  10. Your mother and sister are as beautiful as you are.

  11. You will never know how much it meant to me to see you standing there in Ted's in OKC. . . memory of a lifetime. So proud of you and excited everything is coming along for the little beebs!

  12. Outlet covers are everywhere...Target, WalMart, Babies R Us....cheap too! Good luck with everything! :)

  13. How awesome for your sister to be recognized in such a great way. And, I absolutely LOVE the nursery! Amazing that you did that for under $75. I saw that idea of paper on the wall and loved it! So, very neat!!!

  14. Hey girl! Glad to hear the meeting went great and reaffirmed that this is the right agency for you!! I'm looking forward to seeing your life book, don't worry, I'll keep you accountable! Setting a date was definitely the best thing we did, and we had it done! She emailed me today to tell me she was working on our profile today! I can't wait for it to be online! Good luck for Friday! Have fun in Dallas!

  15. You were in OKC, darn we totally could have met, but family comes first I get it. I am so glad things went well and I am so glad you're moving forward. I can't wait to hear more!
