Show Us Your Life: Wedding Reception & Honeymoon

So this is the last week of the wedding theme at Kelly's Korner, and it's show us your wedding reception & honeymoon. This has been so fun! It's kind of long, but here goes!

You probably know by now that we got married at The Dresser Mansion in Tulsa, OK. We also had our reception there...it's an amazing venue!

We'll start with the cake room:

Our cake had several words like love, joy, and cherish written on it. If you look carefully at the swirls, you can see some of the words.

My cake topper....hours upon hours of using tweezers and E6000 glue to bedazzle the plain "M" I ordered off of ebay. Love the way it turned out though. For the favors, I had two different things. The round tins had glass marble magnets I made - 3 different designs: an M, a picture of us, and stripes. For some reason I don't have a close-up picture of those anywhere! The other thing I did was an packet of scatter seeds for "Pretty in Pink" flowers. One of the most popular things at our reception was the candy bar! (You might recognize these same jars from the candy bar I did for the Sip & See. I have used these jars SO much since our wedding!)We also had coloring books & crayons for the kiddos. These were a huge hit! I'd be glad to share this template with anybody who'd like it - just email me or let me know in the comments.

Here is an initial wreath I made using foam board and flowers....super easy!

We had a camera scavenger hunt at each table. Fun idea, but didn't get a ton of great pictures. I was pleasantly surprised with how many cute ones we got. Unfortunately we had to develop a lot of pictures just to find a few good ones. Still fun though! Here we are during the first dance - Etta James - "At Last". Love. :)

My sweet daddy and I dancing to Natalie Grant's "I'll Always Be Your Baby"...I love this picture of us!Right before the garter toss. He was told he couldn't use his hands to remove the garter, and he took it seriously! Even I got embarassed. :)Sparklers for our departure...waiting to be handed out by my sweet cousin Meg!I had to include this picture of my nephew Hayden. Is he not the cutest?! And I love that facial expression! He's such a mess. And I thought I'd throw these in here also. These are the gable boxes I made for our out of town guests. They had a candle, cookies, water, chocolate & white chocolate in the shape of "M" (those took forever to make!!), and a few other things I can't remember. Oh and also a welcome newsletter with the wedding weekend schedule and suggestions for shopping, eating, and things to see.

Now on to the honeymoon! We went to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Beautiful, lots of fun, but wouldn't go back. But I won't get into the reasons why today. :) We pretty much were beach bums all week, and it was perfect. We both had worked so much prior to the wedding that we just wanted time to breath. And take advantage of the all-inclusive resort we were staying at!

We had a lot of fun one day when we went to this ocean world thing...can't remember the exact name of it. I summoned up the courage to actually get near a sea lion, as evidenced below. And before I knew it, we were best buds.

We also swam with the dolphins, and Patrick swam with the stingrays and sharks. Me? Not so much. The sea lion was a close enough encounter with the wild for me.

Thanks for stopping by! :)

My husband has been in my life for 20+ years and I still feel my heart skip a beat when he walks in the door.
I pray that all you ladies have that feel for years to come.
