Show Us Your Life: Master Bedroom

Because I was a little behind on my blog reading, I didn't know that Show Us Your Life at Kelly's Korner was starting back up last week. So I missed out then, but thought I'd jump in this week with the Master Bedroom tours. I love the home tours and enjoy getting a glimpse into everyone's lives.

I'm glad that this week is the master bedroom, because I've actually been meaning to post pictures of it and ask for advice. I love our bedroom but I really haven't done much decorating in it. We have a faux finish paint job on the walls, and our furniture makes somewhat of a bold statement, so I've had a hard time deciding exactly what I want to put up, if anything, in certain places. The other thing is the windows. We have blinds on all of them, but no window treatments/curtains. We have 4 windows and a door in our room, so it's kind of a lot and I'm afraid anything I do will overwhelm the space. But enough with the rambling, let's take a look at the pictures, shall we? (I had a really hard time getting decent pictures...with the blinds open the glare was bad, so these are a little dark.)

Here's the view from outside the bedroom door (one pic with the blinds open & one with them closed):
This is the view if you go to the right corner when you walk in the door. The armoire holds our TV, though we rarely have it on except for E to watch Praise Baby while I get ready. :) The door leads out to our back veranda.
This is the glider where I sit to nurse him. It's so comfy and has treated me well through many (middle of the night) feedings. :) My jewelry armoire is also in this corner.
Here is "E's room!" :) Yes, our 4 month old still sleeps in our room. Can I blame it on the fact that I don't want to walk upstairs to the nursery for his middle of the night feeding? :)
This is the view looking back into the room from this corner. The door leads to our bathroom, but she's having those tours in a few weeks so I'll wait until then to share those pictures.
So there you have it! Any input on window treatments or wall decorations? Is it okay as is or could it use something? Thanks for stopping by...I can't wait to check out all of your rooms! Have a great weekend! :)

  1. Your room is so pretty! And so clean!! I don't blame you for still having him in there. I refused to move C until he started sleeping through the night, and his room is only 5 steps away from ours! My in-laws have a glider just like that one and I LOOOOVE it, the most comfy chair ever! I think that you gould definitely use some floor to ceiling curtains on the windows. Just something neutral and maybe in a tan color that's lighter than your furniture color but a tad darker than the wall color. Do you every read Young House Love? It's a really great design blog by a couple. They have really great affordable ideas.

  3. Very nice room! Love the furniture. And, how lucky for you to have a door out of your bedroom to the veranda! I would love one of those! I would think if you did window treatments, it would add nicely to the space, but I would keep them neutral, maybe like drop cloth curtains or something.

  4. Your room is so nice! And your bed looks super comfy. What if you did thin curtains or something? I think if you had big, thick, dark curtains, it would close the room in too much. But something perhaps gauzy? might work.

I love E's room in the middle of it. hilarious.

  5. praise baby freaked me out- it was like a drug trip!!

and if E's down to 1 night fdg- I bet it could start to be good for ya to have him in crib!-- he'd probly love the way it feels, too--I think packnplays are uncomfortable! (not that I've been in one...)!!!!

  11. Your room is so beautiful Sarah! I love your bed. It looks like heaven to sleep in. I love that E still sleeps in your room, I odn't blame you for not wanting to walk downstairs at 2am either. He will be there in plenty of time.

I wanted to thank you for inspiring me to join our local MOPS group! I contacted our neighbor after I read your post because she had mentioned while I was pregnant that she belonged to one. It was just the push I needed to contact her.

    Have a great weekend!

  12. Your room is beautiful! It looks so spacious. I totally don't blame you for having your little one still in your room. We did for several months too! It makes getting up in the middle of the night much easier! :)

  13. Your room is beautiful. And I would be the last to judge you for letting your baby still sleep in your room. I have a 2 1/2 year old and when she's not feeling well, she still sleeps in her Pack-and-Play in our bedroom.

  14. I'm in LOVE with that bed! So, so pretty!
My daughter slept through the night at 14 weeks, but I kept her downstairs until she was almost 6 months. She seemed so far away from us upstairs. She did sleep much better once she was in the crib. Her first night in the crib was a hard night for me. I cried & cried.
    Blessings~

  29. Gorgeous! I could just jump in that bed and take a long nap! I don't blame you one bit for having E still in your room- Maddox is still 5 feet away from me, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Even though he doesn't wake up for middle-of-the-night feedings, I still have a peace of mind just knowing he is a few steps away.
