Our Christmas Tree

After the spectacle that was the Martin Family Christmas Tree 2009, I decided to kick that tree to the curb it was time for that department-store sized full Christmas tree to find a loving new home. So I did what any smart girl would do and listed that baby on Craigslist. Emails poured in by the dozens but ultimately the tree went to the sucker person who responded first. And I even got all of my money back on the purchase, so we can safely put that whole mess behind us! Moving right along...
We purchased a 12 foot slimline tree and have been very pleased with it. It's not near as full and works much better in our living room.
I decorated the tree in reds, golds, & browns again and just love the way it turned out. We have about a dozen gold Danbury Mint ornaments that Patrick's aunt gave us, but other than that the ornaments came from Wal-Mart, Target, and Hobby Lobby. I used mesh again this year, and had much much better luck with it after my friends on Twitter told me to cut it into smaller pieces first - makes a big difference! I also stuck a bunch of floral/glitter picks in the tree...again from Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and Kirkland's.
Since I haven't done any Christmas shopping yet (yikes!) I put these boxes from Hobby Lobby under the tree so it doesn't look so empty.
For the tree topper, I just threw a bunch of floral/glitter picks together and positioned them using twist ties, then added some ribbon to finish it off.
And here's one last picture I took looking down from the stairs...I like the tree lights in it. :)
I'm linking up to the Christmas Tree Party at the Thrifty Decor Chick. Go check out all of the amazing trees people are sharing!
