Show Us Your Life: Guest Room

This week's stop on the home tours at Kelly's Korner is the guest room. Our guest room was one room in the house that we decided to do something a little different with the paint color, and decided on an olive/army green color. However, it turned out much differently than it looked on the color deck. But it has grown on us, and now we really like it! Here is the view from the door.
The bird print is from Hobby Lobby, as is the number 8 (our wedding date) covered in some scrapbook paper. And don't you just LOVE the print of Phillipians 4:8?! Libby from The Bonjour Family designed it & is sharing it as a free download. Go check it out...plus check out all of her great blog tutorials - super helpful! Love her blog...thanks Libby. :)
This was our bedroom furniture when we lived in Waco. I still really like it, but we'll probably sell it eventually.
I had a hard time finding something to go over the bed, so I ended up making this for less than $10! I will post a tutorial next Wednesday...it's so easy, and more importantly - cheap.  :)
Here is the view looking back towards the door (the green looks yellower here than it really is because of the glare from the sun.)

Thanks for stopping by...have a great weekend! :)

Crockpot Cooking & Embrace the Camera

Well there seemed to be plenty of you who are interested in crockpot recipes too, so a linky party it is! Let's do it this Tuesday, November 2nd. I can't wait to get some yummy recipes! I think I"m way too excited about this. :)

So I'm participating in Embrace the Camera again. I know I already said this, but I just love the accountability of this! It has made us stop & take the time to snap some pictures, and it only takes a few minutes. Tonight we went on a "family date"...did some shopping and ate at Cheddar's. I have been craving their spinach dip all week, and it was everything I hoped for...and more. Bubs was so good & loved flirting with the people around us when he wasn't busy pulling ev.ery.thing off the table. :)

MOPS & Crock Pot Recipes

Today at MOPS Kelly from Kelly's Korner came to speak. She was just as sweet as she comes across on her blog, and I just think it's so neat that the Lord has given her this platform to reach so many people from around the world.

And finally, I've decided I really need to jump on board this whole crockpot cooking thing. I've been googling recipes but am so overwhelmed because there are a ton out there! So I was thinking about having a linky party where people could share crockpot recipes they like. I'm putting a poll below, so just vote and let me know if you'd want to link up for this. If there's enough interest, I'll do a linky. If not, then I'll just be bugging you to email me your recipes. :)

Spread the Love to Laci {Giveaway 3}

Giveaway is now closed.

Well it is time for a giveaway that gives back! If you're not familiar with Laci's story, you can read it here. In short, she is my 5 year-old niece that needs cochlear implants, and her insurance company will not cover it. They have applied for a grant that would pay for the actual equipment and are waiting to find out if Laci was chosen to receive that. In the meantime, we need to raise $8,000 because even if she does receive the grant, it doesn't cover surgery & other costs, and that will allow her to get her surgery scheduled. So I decided to put together this giveaway fundraiser to get her fund started, and am so excited to show you the great things that these wonderful vendors have donated!

Show Us Your Life: Nursery

This week at Kelly's Korner home tours the theme is nurseries! This is a re-post so I apologize to my regular readers. If you're here from Kelly's though, thanks for stopping by!
Here are some details about the nursery, including answers to questions I received in the comments or via email when I first posted pictures of his nursery.

Entryway of E's - this idea was inspired by Brittany from Perfect Harmony. She did a collection of H's on a shelf and I just loved the different sizes and shapes, and knew I wanted to do this somewhere in my house. The big E in the center is from JoAnn Fabrics and was only $2! It was plain cardboard and my mom mod podged paper on it. The horizontal striped E was a gift from my little sister, and I think is from Kirkland's. The rest of the E's came from Hobby Lobby, all during 50% off sales. I modge podged scrapbook paper on 3 of them (stripes, argyle, and polka dots), the white one was like that when I bought it, and the small blue one was black - I just painted it with craft paint.

Closet - The font I used for the labels in the closet is called Howser, and is a free download from Kevin & Amanda's Scrapbook Fonts. I cut the labels using my Cricut and a program called Sure Cuts A Lot. If you're a Cricut user, that program is a MUST-HAVE!! (More closet pictures & details, including the tutorial on the size dividers, can be found here.)

Alphabet Cards - My friend Ashley introduced me to these and I knew I had to have them the minute I saw them! They are by K & Company, and they used to be sold in stores at Michael's for around $7. I haven't seen them in stores in awhile, but you can order them online several places. I got mine on ebay from this seller and the total was around $10, including shipping. Then we just strung them on ribbon using miniature clothespins from Michael's. You also might remember the bookshelves from the tour of my old classroom. My mom re-finished these & stained them to match the rest of the furniture - I love how they turned out!

Airplane Mobile - The lanterns are battery operated and I actually randomly found them at Wal-Mart in the wedding decoration section. It was $10 for the set of 3. The airplanes are from Kirkland's. Patrick hung these using fishing line.
Wall - My mom & Patrick painted the stripes, and they are 6 inches thick. We just measured the wall & then determined how big we wanted the stripes from there. His name & the E are not painted on - they are vinyl and I cut them with my Cricut.

The picture on the far right is a nightlight I made. Here is a tutorial I did if you'd like to make one of your own.

Wall Decorations: The alphabet picture in the middle is Amy Coe but I got it at TJ Maxx for $7. The 3 little animals at the top were a Martha Stewart frame kit. I think I've seen them at Michael's, but I got mine at Big Lots for $2. The other frames were gifts. Further to the right is a growth chart that my friend Daysha gave to me - such a unique gift - I love it!

Well I think that is it! If I missed anything please let me know. Thanks again for all of the sweet comments! :)
