My Little Lion

I haven't blogged in awhile from my phone, but I'm thinking I might start doing so more...maybe it will help me stay caught up a little...maybe. :)

Thanks for the kind comments on yesterday's post! Laci's surgery went great and her implant will be activated in about 3 weeks. She's such a trooper!
Today was dress up day at MDO. I had originally wanted Manny to be a lion for Halloween because he LOVES to growl. I found this costume at Target for $20 and thought it was precious. However, he wanted nothing to do with it and would melt down if I tried to put it on him. So, I decided I'd take it back and he would be Bamm Bamm instead (also very appropriate). I ordered a super cute costume off eBay and he looks adorable in it!
Unfortunately when we woke up today it was 40 degrees and raining, so Bamm Bamm was out of the question. Lucky for him, mama's a procrastinator and never took the lion costume back so that's what he was today.
With the right combination of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and some grapes, I was able to distract him long enough to wrangle him into the costume. The hood didn't last long, but he's still pretty stinking cute. :)
Hopefully the weather will warm up some this weekend so he can wear his Bamm Bamm costume too. I have to say I love him as a little lion though...he looks so sweet! :)

Wednesday Randoms

--Remember my sweet niece Laci I told you about here? Well she is getting a cochlear implant in her other ear today (she got the first one implanted last November). In fact, she is in surgery as we speak. She is having the surgery in OKC, so they stayed with us last night and she was so nervous, bless her heart. She is always a tough little cookie, so it broke my heart to see her scared. My brother sent me this picture of her this morning before she went back for surgery. He said she was making jokes while waiting to go back...such a brave little thing. Please keep her in your prayers that the surgery goes well and she has a speedy recovery and adjustment to the implant. Thank you!

--Have I mentioned life is crazy now? Because it is. Partially because of this little guy (who I'm pretty sure is growling at me in this picture). Is it normal for the terrible two's to start at 17 months? I have seen some fits this week that scare me at what's to come. Maybe I should start reading some parenting books because I am overwhelmed lately. But he's SO stinking cute and also a lot of fun at the same time! He's just full of sass...wonder where he gets that from?? :)

--I have SO much I want & need to blog about. I hate falling behind like this. But honestly? I just have no desire to be on the computer right now. I'm hoping this passes so I can catch up on blogging and emails...but right now? I'm just not feeling it.

--I haven't crafted in forever and desperately miss it!! I'd really like to have some kind of craft party and get a group of girls together to craft. So fun! Anyone done that? If so, how was it organized?
-- Here is Manny's first school picture. Isn't it funny?! It's actually a picture of the picture I took with my phone because our scanner is on the fritz. He looks so grown up here.

--Has anybody with the iPhone 4G updated to ios 5? I hear everyone saying I should...but I'm scared. I've heard horror stories of it crashing people's phones, plus when I updated my 3G to ios 4 my phone was basically ruined. So if you've updated, I'd love to hear about it...including what's different about ios 5 and if it's worth updating?

-- Patrick and I left Manny with a (non-family) sitter the other night for the first time. He absolutely loved her and did great! I'm so thankful we've found someone he is comfortable with. We went to a reception they had for the new doctor's and it was so nice to get out for a bit just us. This is a horrible picture (and also a picture of a picture from my phone) of both of us...neither of us were quite ready for it as you can tell by our random pose, but it's proof we actually went somewhere without Manny. Ha! :)

Well I am keeping my niece Lani and nephew Jax while Laci is in surgery, so now we are going to get ready to head to the hospital to see her as she should be out in an hour or so. Happy Wednesday friends! :)

Baby Martin 2.0 {The Details}

shirt via SheShe Made
Well. Last week was interesting. Remember me saying Manny had a horrible stomach bug and I hoped I didn't get it? No.such.luck. I don't know that I've ever been that sick with a stomach bug...it was rough. I've been really sick already with this pregnancy, and that combined with a stomach bug? Basically left me throwing up on the hour, every hour...at least. Thankfully that is all behind us, and it appears Patrick managed to avoid it so that is great. On to the details from our big announcement!

To put it bluntly, we started trying to get pregnant again last October. Or at least we weren't preventing. :) We weren't charting, planning, or anything official like that, but we knew we wanted to grow our family, and not knowing if or how fast it would happen again, we decided this would be best as Patrick and I aren't getting any younger. Knowing the Lord had already blessed us with our little guy, we knew He already had the plans for what our family would look like in the future (and if that would include more kids), and just tried not to worry about it.

Since I'm being blunt, I will go ahead and tell you that the month we conceived? We thought we'd missed the window that we could. Oh, and the baby was conceived on our little getaway to Mexico. :) Too much info? Sorry mom & dad. :) It is funny/frightening to think of all the things I did when I was just barely pregnant...swimming with whale sharks, ziplining, you know, basically anything you're not supposed to do while pregnant. :)

I honestly had no clue I was pregnant. In hindsight, I should've known because we were preparing to move, and I was SO tired I couldn't function. I thought it was just because we had so much going on and I wasn't getting enough sleep. Then when I ended up being late, I started wondering if it could be. Well as luck would have it, I didn't have a car that day because Patrick's was in the shop and he had taken mine to OKC...so I couldn't go buy a pregnancy test. He got home that afternoon around 5:30, and we were supposed to have dinner with some friends at 6 so he was ready to just pick us up and head there. Well, I knew I couldn't wait to test, so I told him I had to go to Wal-Mart before we went to dinner because we were out of milk for Manny.

So I headed to Wal-Mart real quick, and just like when I found out I was pregnant with Manny, I took the test in the bathroom at Wal-Mart. :) Yes, the bathroom is still as disgusting as it was 2 years ago, but I couldn't wait. I bought the digital kind, and when the word "pregnant" popped up, the emotions hit me all over again...the shock, excitement, etc...so there I was crying away in the Wal-Mart bathroom. Quite the scene, quite the memories. :)
Since I wasn't really prepared for this, I decided to tell Patrick the same way I told him with Manny, so I just bought a little gift bag and wrapped up the test. He had brought me a surprise home from OKC (an iPad!) so when I got home, I told him I wanted to get him a surprise too since he'd just gotten me one. He didn't suspect a thing. And when he unwrapped the pregnancy test? I swear it was the same face as when he unwrapped the one I gave him last time. He was confused and was just like, "What? Is this yours?" And then he just kept saying "wow" over and over. And Manny was standing there clapping, and it was just SO special...I never imagined this day would come...and come so quickly! We are certainly blessed.

I wanted a fun way to tell family, so we took the addition picture using my tripod and remote. We took it right before church, and got lucky after only a few shots with one that was good enough. :) I found the idea via Pinterest, of course! They had used a chalkboard for the background, but since we didn't have a large one, I just added the numbers to the picture in Photoshop and that got the message across. :) I would link to the source, but I didn't pin it so I wouldn't give away our news, and now I can't find it!
Ashley was also one of the first to know the news, and was so sweet to make this adorable shirt for Manny. It's so fun to see him wearing it!
This is Baby Martin 2.0 at about 8.5 weeks...such a cute little blob with a nice strong heartbeat of 179 bpm! I am just over 11 weeks pregnant now. My due date is 12 days before Manny's 2nd birthday (also my mom's birthday!), which is May 5th...my dad's birthday. :) May sure is a busy month in our family!

Well I think that covers all the details and any questions I've received. If I missed anything, please let me know! As you can tell, I have no problem oversharing...ha. :)

I just want to say again that we are blown away at this miracle of life, and humbled that the Lord has blessed us again. If you are still waiting on your little miracle, please know you are on my heart and always in my prayers. I have struggled with a lot of guilt in getting to experience this a second time when I know so many waiting for their first time. If that is you, please keep the faith, and know that I am praying and believing with you!

Tuesday Tidbits

--Thank you guys SO SO much for all of the sweet comments, emails, etc. from our big announcement yesterday! We are still pinching ourselves that this is actually happening. I have lots of details to share and hope to do so tomorrow. I planned on sharing more today, but then yesterday turned out differently than I expected...more on that below. I will share everything soon though, and thanks again to everyone for sharing in our joy!
--Shortly after I finished posting our news yesterday, Manny woke up from his nap. We were at my parent's house as we'd gone up there for the weekend to see my niece Gabi in homecoming and have some fun family time! Anyway, when I went to get Manny from his nap, he had thrown up everywhere. And within an hour, he threw up 2 more times. Let me just say...this is our first throw-up experience, and yikes. Not only does it break my heart for the little guy, but really? It's beyond disgusting. Especially with the super smelling powers I have currently. A few hours went by and he seemed fine, so I decided to try to head home. We made it about 25 minutes down the road when he threw up everywhere...probably the worst yet. So we headed back to my parents to get cleaned up and figure out what to do. Poor guy was having a rough day. He seems to be a little better today, so hopefully this little stomach bug will pass, and avoid the rest of us too!

--I've shared my love for Erin Condren products many times, and I know many of you love them, too. So in case you haven't heard, today they're on another deal site where you can get $50 of products for only $25! You can go here to register and grab the deal. Happy shopping! :)

Well I need to take a nap get some stuff done before Manny wakes up,  but I just wanted to drop in real quick to say hi (and share these pictures of my cute little guy I meant to share last week), and I promise to be back soon with more details!

Yummy Mac & Cheese Recipe

Last night our neighborhood had a block party. How cool is that?! We have never lived in a neighborhood like this...lots of young kids and people are always doing stuff...it's great. The block party was a lot of fun! I was so busy meeting and talking to people that I only managed to take one picture. They had a bounce house, firetrucks (Manny clapped and cheered when they raised the ladder - it was so cute!!) and police cars for the kids to check out, and a rep from Target even came and gave out sidewalk chalk to the kids.

And of course there was lots of amazing food. I brought one of my favorite recipes that I got from my sister a few years ago. It's always a hit, so I thought I'd share it here. Per usual, I started to take pictures of the process but didn't get further than the ingredients...sorry. :)
Yummy Macaroni & Cheese

1lb. box of pasta
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 cup milk
1/2 stick butter
16 oz. Heavy whipping cream
2 cups Monterrey Jack cheese
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese
10 oz Velveeta

1. Cook pasta according to directions on package.
2. Combine butter, soup, milk, and velveeta cheese (I cube the velveeta before adding it). Cook on low until smooth and remove from heat, then add heavy whipping cream.
3. Pour mixture over cooked pasta in baking dish.
4. Top with Monterey and cheddar cheese; stir.
5. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes.

I love this recipe because I think it tastes "gourmetish" and it really isn't that hard - but of course you knew it wouldn't be if I'm making it. :)

Happy Wednesday!
